Here we’ll explore the native swamp exhibit where hundreds of wading birds fly in to roost in the late afternoons. Herons, egrets, ibis, spoonbills, and wood storks will be seen in their natural habitat. Over the years, the rookery has grown in size to what it is today, one of the largest natural bird rookeries in the state of Florida. The swamp extends over approximately two acres of natural wetlands and is home to around 65 American Alligators and many native turtles and we’ll be shooting during peak mating season for Great and Snowy Egrets. We’ll also visit some of the surrounding areas historical St. Augustine has to offer. This workshop will start on Wednesday night to discuss shooting technique and what we’ll see and lay out our itinerary. This will allow us to start shooting at first light Thursday morning. We’ll shoot all day Friday and Saturday and have review and critique sessions after each day’s shooting.
