Second Monday Lecture Series | July 12 | 7p.m.|
Mirjam Evers


The Charleston Center for Photography will host photographer Mirjam Evers on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 7 pm as part of the monthly Second Monday Night Lecture Series. Mirjam Evers is a Dutch freelance photographer specializing in environmental portraits, travel, documentary and adventure photography. During her presentation at CCforP, Evers will speak about her photography career during which she has traveled to over 65 countries capturing the diversity of people and cultures in some of the most exotic places in the world.


She specializes in shooting intimate portraits using off camera flash, specifically the Nikon SB-900 Speed lights and a SU 800 wireless commander, unusual angles and interesting lenses, such as a fisheye and the Lensbaby.  Her photographs have been published in the New York Times, Nikon calendar 2010, PC Photo, Outdoor Photographer, PDN Magazine, American Photo, Popular Photography, Hamptons Magazine, Photographer's Forum and International Expeditions.

Corporate clients include: Lensbaby, Lowepro, Epson and Visa Card. Mirjam is sponsored by Lowepro and based in New York City and is a member of ASMP and PPA. Mirjam is a founding member of Photo Quest Adventures (www.photoquestadventures.com) as well as a teacher for this unique photography company dedicated to "Giving Back" and making a difference in the world through photography.  She is currently the Executive Producer for The Eddie Adams Workshop organizing every detail of their annual 4 day Tuition free intensive workshop (Oct. 8-11, 2010) for students and young professionals focusing on photojournalism. 

Mirjam shoots with a Nikon D700 with a 12 mm lens, 24-70 mm lens, and
70-200mm lens.  She also uses her favorite lens, a fisheye and the Lensbaby
and carries it all in her Lowepro camera bags, each of which is
dependant on the environment that she is shooting in. She also uses the Elinchrom Quadra.
