Alice Keeney

Alice Keeney was drawn to photography ever since she received her first camera for Christmas when she was twelve.  Upon graduating from the College of Charleston with a degree in English, she was faced with two options: law school, or photography school in Paris... she decided she wasn't finished with photography yet.

Alice prefers to focus mainly on documentary photography, but also enjoys all types of photojournalism.  The ever-changing environment and certain challenges provides her with new inspiration constantly.  Over the past year, Alice has worked extensively with, and photographed, an HIV/AIDS education NGO in Zimbabwe called Grassroot Soccer.

Alice is originally from Rhode Island, but enrolled in the College of Charleston and fell in love with the city and the people.  While in Paris, she studied at the Speos Photography Institute.  Alice now lives in Charleston and works as a stringer for the Associated Press, while pursuing freelance opportunities of her own.
